Viggo Mortensen in "Appaloosa".
September 28th 2008 10:28
In "Eastern Promises", Viggo Mortensen gave a magnificent performance as a Russian mobster in London, which garnered him critical praise and an Oscar nod.
In "Appaloosa", we find Mr. Mortensen still playing the tough guy, but in an Old West setting.
Set in New Mexico, the film stars Ed Harris (who also directed), Mortensen, Renee Zellweger and Jeremy Irons. Mortensen and Harris play two hired guns with the charge of cleaning up a rough and corrupt Old West town run by a merciless rancher (Irons). In their attemps to take control of the town, they are introduced to a mysterious woman (Zellwegger) who threatens to destroy the partnership the men have formed.
"Appaloosa" opens in the U.S. on October 3rd. View the Trailer and an interview with Viggo below:

I can't wait for "The Road" either. Supposedly it is set to be released this fall in the US, but I haven't even seen a trailer for it. The book was heart-breaking, and I think Viggo will do wonderfully as the father.

I'm with both of you on The Road, Viggo always chooses complex, layered and intriguing roles so I know my expectations of him will not disappoint...
Out of my three top male actors, it's Viggo, Edward Norton and Jake Gyllenhaal. I know I will like a movie if one of those people is in it, and they're so cute as well.
What about your faves, Natalie? (You've probably covered this before, but I'm a newbie and don't know where I'll find those entries yet)
