The Ugly Truth gets an R rating - Here's Why
June 25th 2009 06:02
When I first heard about The Ugly Truth, I thought it was going to be your standard, run o' the mill chick flick with a solid PG-13 rating, and a generally sweet vibe.
Then I heard that it was getting an R rating, and that it contains some decidedly adult material. It is considered fairly ballsy for a romantic comedy to take an R rating, as it may alienate some of the more conservative members of its audience.
The Ugly Truth says poo on that (likely it would use stronger language than poo, actually) and goes for it. The following clip shows a bit of why exactly the film is getting the restricted rating. What do you think?
Beta Girl's take? I'll never complain about seeing Gerard Butler in some adult situations!
The trailer is only accessible if you verify that you are over 18 years of age.

The only part of the clip that troubled me was what he said about pony tails...I wear my hair back a lot! Is that the message I'm sending??? LOL

Actually, I saw a documentary about the MPAA. Can't remember what it was called but it had these people who were trying to infiltrate the ratings board. It was interesting.
