Be the Hero of Your Own Story-Nim's Island on DVD

August 3rd 2008 06:16
Start saving your pennies, Beta Girls..."Nim's Island" starring Gerard Butler, Jodie Foster, and Abigail Breslin will be released on DVD in the U.S. on August 5th. That's this Tuesday!

Nim's Island

For those of you who haven't seen it, "Nim's Island" it is a family film that tells the story of Nim and her father, a marine biologist, who live together on a secluded island in the middle of nowhere. Nim is an imaginative young girl who befriends the animals of the island, and is a fan of adventurer Alex Rover, who stars in a series of books written by an author of the same name. Nim believes that the Alex Rover of the books and Alex Rover the writer are one in the same, but in reality the author is Alexandra Rover, an agoraphobic shut-in played hilariously by Jodie Foster.

When Nim's father ends up lost at sea, she recruits the help of Alexandra to save him, believing that she is calling on the brave "Indiana Jones" style character from her stories. Reluctantly, Alexandra responds to the call, and the real adventure begins.

With Gerard Butler playing dual roles of Nim's father and the fictional Alex Rover, "Nim's Island" is a movie for kids and adults alike, and I highly recommend buying or renting the DVD!

I loved Nim's Island, and I will buy the DVD, for sure! Good synopsis, my dear.

I thought this was a fun movie. Reminded me a lot of the Disney adventure films I grew up with. My mom, who is 80, saw Nim's 3 times in the theater! She adored it. I'm not thinking Jodie and Gerry were a good pair up for a romance, but I still enjoyed the film for what it was. (And he looks amazing as Jack in that night time boat scene!)
