New Crank 2 Poster Revealed
February 12th 2009 06:54
I have to admit, I did not see "Crank" starring the super hotness that is Jason Statham when it came to theaters. Nor, did I see it once it was released on DVD. In fact, I only watched "Crank" for the first time mere weeks ago.
You see, the idea of the film really didn't appeal to me. I saw the trailers. I read the reviews. It just didn't seem to be my kind of flick. Well, finally, at my hubby's request, I gave the film a chance.
I must admit, it is a film full of naked women, foul language, drugs, and violence. I must also admit that I really liked it! It was so creative and dare I say...artistic! I know that there are many people who would write this film off as a run of the mill supercharged action flick, but while there is plenty in "Crank" to appeal to the action buff crowd, there is also a fair amount that will appeal to those with an appreciation for creative cinematography, dialogue, and mind bending effects that reach beyond the usual explosions and car chases.
On top of all of that, the story was far more inventive than I would have first guessed. The trick is to watch the movie as though it were a video game. The main character, Chev Chelios, has a certain amount of hit points or manna or lives and must accomplish all of his tasks before he runs out. And even if he ends up in a situation that would end a person in the real world, our hero can escape in the world of "Crank" as long as he has enough juice left. One needs to suspend their reality for this film, and it ends up being pretty enjoyable in a sick and strange way.
Which leads us to the upcoming sequel, "Crank: High Voltage". The film promises to be even more provocative than the original, and from the looks of the leaked red band trailer that appeared and then was pulled from the web, it may be even more over the top. See the trailer below:
Lionsgate has finally released an official poster, which features Jason Statham having an interesting encounter with what appear to be jumper cables. "Crank: High Voltage" will hit U.S. theaters on April 17, 2009.
