Beta's Bloggin' Birthday!
March 23rd 2009 06:24
Approximately one year ago, in a cluttered office in Minnesota, a blog was born. The blog's mother, a woman with big dreams from a small town, named the newborn, Beta Girl. Beta Girl blossomed from a silly little infant into an even sillier and more sarcastic toddler, and the mother was pleased with the fruits of her not so laborious labors.
I'm going to drop the melodramatic and cheesy metaphor now, and simply say that the month of March nearly passed me by before I realized that Beta Girl Blog just turned 1 year old!
Those who know me, know that there is more to Natalie than simply gawking at hot actors and reviewing romance films. I actually write several blogs, and in some ways I feel like they all represent the separate layers of my personality.
With Beta Girl, I get to be girly, flirty, and irreverent. Nothing is taken too seriously on Beta Girl Blog, but it allows me to just have fun and reconnect with that teenage girl that is still alive and kickin' in my brain. I'll never apologize for the side of my personality that enjoys all things light and fluffy. There is too much sadness and seriousness in the world to allow yourself to be caught up in it completely. It really is ok to just let yourself be silly. That's what Beta Girl is all about.
My other blog, Mylifemymuse.com, is my more mature, world aware side. Although that site too dabbles in entertainment, it is primarily focused on the grown up in me, and it affords me the release that I need when life gets a little heavy.
And now, with my newest adventure, Extraordinary Intelligence, hosted by worldblogosphere.com, I can delve into matters that stimulate yet another part of my brain. The part that loves a good ghost story, believes in Bigfoot, wonders what else is out there, and is a sucker for a good conspiracy.
In my heart of hearts, I am a Beta Girl. Being a Beta Girl doesn't mean that you are always silly or always girly. It just means that you embrace that aspect of yourself, and let it out for all the world to see. Not every intelligent, politically minded, socially conscious woman wears camo and carries a bull horn. Some of us like the color pink and wear dresses to our anti-war protests!
With all of that said, I want to thank all of the loyal readers who've stayed with me since the beginning, and those of you who are just now discovering your inner Beta. I intend to continue to be the sassy and sweet gal you've come to know, and..of course I'll keep those Alphas coming!
Here now, are a few posts from the past, as we look back at one year of Beta Girl!
